WOWT 6 News (Omaha, Neb.) | By Brenna Kiefner | October 30, 2026
WOWT 6 News recently featured Methodist’s structural heart program and its use of egnite’s CardioCare® Platform to help identify patients with aortic stenosis, a narrowing of the heart valve that can progress to severe disease within months.
The story describes a patient in his 60s whose echocardiogram was flagged by the platform. He had been scheduled for an appointment two months out, but after the flag he was treated with a surgical aortic valve replacement and was already recovering by the time he would have first been seen in clinic.
Methodist’s team explained that CardioCare doesn’t read the scans. It organizes the language in existing echo reports, sorts patients by severity and flags severe cases so the structural heart team can reach out. Dr. Jai Parekh, a structural and interventional cardiologist at Methodist Physicians Clinic, emphasized that the platform supports the team’s work and “never replaces physician judgment.”
According to Methodist:
- Before the program, it took eight to nine weeks to go from first visit to treatment.
- Its goal now is to see flagged patients within one to two weeks and treat them within four to six.
- The program has helped it see 35% more patients.
- It is one of two Nebraska hospitals taking part in an American Heart Association initiative.
